You may be feeling comfortable and confident about your driving skills, but how well do you understand the traffic signs that give you important information about your driving? It’s likely you’ve seen these signs along the roadside, and you may have basic knowledge that allows you to recognize some of them and know their meanings. However, you need to develop a comprehensive understanding of each one to protect you from making critical errors. Your driving skills won’t be complete until you understand road signs and how they can protect you from undesirable situations, such as driving the wrong way on Seymour Street in Vancouver.

Our Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) Traffic Signs and Road Situations Practice Test provides expert instruction that helps you identify and interpret road signs. The practice test is a way for you to assess the recognition and interpretation skills that will keep you safe and in compliance with traffic rules. You will be provided with numerous multiple-choice questions asking you to identify and interpret various traffic signs. These signs may be regulatory (e.g., stop signs), warning (e.g., road narrows ahead), or guide (e.g., a route marker to help you determine your location) signs. Each sign conveys a specific message to keep you travelling safely and efficiently. By developing an extensive knowledge of road signs, you’ll hugely increase your chances of passing the ICBC Driver’s Licence General Knowledge Test.

The Traffic Signs and Road Situations Practice Test provides the most effective visual recognition training to help you identify road signs and determine how to respond to each. It is based on the most recent ICBC Learn to Drive Smart manual (https://downloads.ctfassets.net/nnc41duedoho/63cHBOAVpOAQGOOMBFhFbL/0120c57c3c706956bd3e410e179642bd/driver-full.pdf). The official knowledge test requires you to answer a minimum of 80% of its questions correctly to pass. While you may consider another on-line resource, such as a study guide that depends on your memorization abilities, you won’t receive the same level of instruction. If you get a question wrong, the practice test will provide a detailed explanation of the correct answer. This approach provides you with the information that supports the correct answers instead of having you merely memorize them. It is a more effective and time-efficient way for you to learn because you play an active role in the process and receive feedback on the advancement of your skills. Using the practice test, you can use the recognition skills that you gain to move you closer to reaching your goal.
